It was the Spring of 2020, and the world just didn’t feel right anymore. Covid was sweeping the planet, the United States was divided over a salacious presidential race, and George Floyd was murdered on a sidewalk in Minneapolis.
The weight of it all caused me to withdraw. My only time away from home was trips to the grocery store and daily walks. With all those stressors playing like theme music in my head, I took a walk one day through my neighborhood. It too, had become a microcosm of the division and strife in the world.
So many homes had yard signs that defiantly advertised the owners’ views. People were clearly no longer afraid to draw a line in the sand, showing support for or taking a stance against all that was going on in the world. And it was in that moment I thought, ‘it would be great if a clothing brand existed that was a symbolism of solidarity … something that simply represented a tribe of oneness.’ It just felt like people needed to relearn how to disagree respectfully.
I didn’t really know what it would be, I just knew it had to become! So, I set out to create a brand that would unquestionably evoke solidarity and strength, but in a civil and peaceable way. And I wanted it to feel like a badge of honor for those who consistently stand against flagrant biases, injustices, and inequality. So, after two years, a few months and many sleepless nights, I am so proud to share my beloved brainchild – Woke & Willing Apparel!
Buy it! Share our mission with others! But most importantly, wear it confidently! Rocking this brand says to the world, nothing matters more than the love and respect we give each other, especially during those times when we disagree.
I invite you to break our site, and find out more about our mission by following us across all social channels @WokeandWilling.
Thank you in advance for your love, support, and willingness!
